This museum in memory of Anne Frank was opened by Otto Frank (Anne's father) on May 3, 1960; 14 years after Anne had died. Otto Frank had run his business since 1940 in this building, and Anne's family and others moved here in 1942. Anne died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1946. Otto Frank published her diary in 1947 in an edition of 1500 copies. Now her diary is translated in at least 55 different languages.

The whole building is well preserved to show how Anne and other people had lived in the small space for so many years without going out even once. There were pictures of film stars and postcards on the wall of Anne's room. You can feel how the teenager was trying to entertain herself with the small resources she could get.

This museum tells you the sorrow of wars.
